Pandemics and Education

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

How UPG is Making the Best out of a Tough Situation.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has taken a deep toll on every one; from lockdown measures to being at home for months on end. For many, a lockdown like this is something that they’ve experienced for the first time in their lives. Education has been impacted as schools and universities have been shut down since March of this year. Student’s find themselves back home with technology to depend on until the lockdown measures are eased. As such, Usha Pravin Gandhi College has taken matters into their own hands and have begun taking lectures online via Microsoft Teams.

Starting the new academic year online is no easy feat, but lectures have been taking place since Mid-July without any hiccups. PPTs, Screensharing and Hand raising on MS Teams has become the new classroom of the students. The increased convenience of being able to attend lectures no matter where you are cannot be ignored. College events like the 74th Independence Day event took place on MS Teams too, where students and faculty members joined in on this patriotic day, despite being miles away. Committee Events have begun in full swing, with many webinars and unique games being held over Zoom and Whatsapp- the true creativity and resourcefulness of UPG Students has shone through the recent events.

While there is no news on when campuses would reopen, UPG has taken the smooth transition to create a college environment at home- benefiting students, teachers and families alike with the increased engagement taking place by college.
