NSS Round Table Report

Glossophobia or the fear of public speaking is extremely common among students. In the professional world, public speaking is an essential and highly valued skill that allows us to influence decisions and motivate change. It is a skill that not only helps in career advancement but also helps to boost one's confidence.

The National Service Scheme unit of UPG college organized a Group Discussion webinar for honing the skills of public speaking. The event was chaired by Mr. Chinmay Dhingra, who has 15 plus years of experience in marketing and brand management. The registrants could join either as participants or the audience. The participants were divided into separate teams and were assigned different topics related to Covid-19 to speak on, followed by a rapid-fire quiz round. Mr. Dhingra later gave individual feedback to every participant in areas they can improve.

He explained that good listening skills are equally as important and play a vital role in group discussions and public speaking along with the content and way of speaking. The event was a great success as the people present learned something from one another and they were also benefited from the insights given by the guest.
