A New Era of Sporting; the IPL.

Updated: Oct 4, 2020

The most awaited time of the year is amidst us, the Indian Premier League 2020 has finally begun. But this year it's not the usual IPL that we all are familiar with. First of all it's in UAE, without fans cheering their teams from the bustling stands of the humongous stadiums. But what this year's IPL lacks in fans is more than made up for in the entertainment and thrill that every match offers. It's been over a week and the matches just keep on escalating to a new level of excitement and drama.

The first match between Chennai super kings (CSK), and Mumbai Indians was the perfect start to IPL and it has been a joyride ever since. After over a week of matches, Kagiso Rabada of Delhi Capitals and Mohammed Shami of KXIP are on top of the scoreboard with 7 wickets, followed by Sam Curran of CSK and Yuzvendra Chahal of RCB at 5 wickets. As for the player with the most runs, KL Rahul of KXIP is acing the charts with 222 runs in just 3 matches, closely followed by his opening partner for KXIP Mayank Agarwal who has defied expectations and scored 221 runs. After a series of mind-boggling matches this week, Delhi Capitals are soaring at the top of the points table. Kolkata Knight Riders are catching up with them in second place after being defeated once, and Rajasthan Royals round up the top three teams. CSK and Mumbai Indians secure their position in the bottom three; looks like the tables have turned in this Dream 11 IPL.

NOT ONE BUT TWO MATCHES ENTER THE SUPER OVER, TAKING THE FANS ON A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE:

Two matches have already entered the super over elevating the experience of the fans all over the globe. The first tie was played between Delhi Capitals and KXIP where the tables turned in the second inning after Mayank Agarwal’s heroics helped KXIP come back from behind and tie the match at 157 runs. The match was won by Delhi Capitals who got the sweet taste of victory. Another match that led to a nail-biting finish was the one played between Mumbai Indians and RCB. The stunning game of AB de Villiers was given a tough fight by Pollard and Ishan Kishan, who became just the third player in IPL history to get out at 99, led the match to enter a super over. At last, RCB stole the win from Mumbai Indians.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS BRING A BLIZZARD NAMED RAHUL TEWATIA ON THE FIELD:

Rajasthan royals glow with triumph after chasing 224 runs, making history in IPL in the match against KXIP. The match starting with a monstrous 183 first wicket partnership between KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, where the latter scored his first ever century in the IPL helping the Kings XI put 223 runs on the boards and setting the stage for the highest ever run chase in the IPL history and boy were the royals up to it. Steven Smith 50(27), Sanju Samson 85(42) and last but not the least Rahul Tewatia 53(31), whose 30 runs in 18th over catapulted him to stardom and helped the Royals overcome the mammoth target.

MAYANK AGARWAL AND KL RAHUL ACT AS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF AN ADMIRABLE PARTNERSHIP.

Despite the defeat of KXIP, the team’s opening batsmen carved a place of respect in the hearts of viewers. Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul served a commendable partnership as opening batsmen in the match against Rajasthan Royals held on Sunday. This team of two posed a threat to the bowlers with the splendid showers of fours and sixes right from the moment they entered the field. Mayank scored his first-ever century with a smashing score of 106 runs and KL Rahul scored a half-century making a total of 69 runs making the score chart shoot up to greater heights. This duo has proved to be unbeatable and will continue breaking records in the further matches.

The pace of progress and excitement just keeps surging after every match as the scores have been changing in the blink of an eye. This pandemic may restrict our physical boundaries but it can never bound the dedication and excitement of both, the fans and the players towards cricket.
