Her Majesty: The Queen

Queen: a British rock band whose fusion of heavy metal, glam rock, and camp theatrics made it one of the iconic and most popular bands humanity has ever seen. Although generally dismissed by critics, Queen crafted an elaborate blend of layered guitar work by guitarist Brian May and the greatest miracle that God has ever created, front man and principal songwriter, Freddie Mercury.

You must have heard people stomping their legs twice and followed by a clap, that’s nothing but a beautiful work of Queen which is nothing but the beat of one of the legendary songs We will rock you. Their innovative and creative ideas have managed to sway people of all generations even today. Their most famous song Bohemian Rhapsody left the world shattered. Till date it's listed as the number one song. Their other iconic songs include I want to break free, Radio gaga, Somebody to love, and a duet with David Bowie Under pressure.

Without Freddie Mercury, the band used to exist with the name Smile with the guitarist Brian May and drummer Taylor. The name was changed to Queen after Mercury joined the team. During the initial years, the band was limited to the United Kingdom only. Much later, when songs like We are the champion and We will rock you were released, is when they got international recognition. The song initially became sports anthems across multiple countries outside the UK. When the golden Bohemian Rhapsody was released, it rocked the world with its flavour of music. It remained the number one chart in Britain, as well as several other countries, for many years to come. That is when Queen started being counted with other prestigious bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Oasis.

Lead singer Freddie Mercury, one of the most iconic singers of all time, has had many controversies and struggles in his life. People used to say he had a big mouth which helped him to produce long notes. Today there are major charities and organisations which work for AIDS as it is believed that he died from AIDS. Some reports also say that Mercury revealed he had AIDS only a day ago.

Queen stole away the live aid concert which was held at prestigious Wembley stadium in 1985. Till date it is considered as the greatest show produced by a rock band.

With the current members Adam Lambert and Brian May, Queen still have concerts all over the world with people swaying through the songs which were earlier sung by Mercury. Queen is not just a rock band, it’s an emotion of millions of people who can relate to beautiful lyrics and the beat which gives shivers down the spine. Queen will continue to inspire many many singers and bands to come. It has set a benchmark which would be impossible to cross.
